THE END NEVER ENDING
2000
Ink drawing on a thermal fax paper roll. 350 x 25 cm
The End Never Ending originates from an intimate and time-based gesture: an ink drawing made on a continuous roll of fax paper. This unconventional support —fragile, everyday, yet potentially infinite— becomes a surface where the line unfolds without interruption, revealing a symbolic universe populated by transformations, archetypes and mythological figures.
The drawing was created over a period of nine months, mirroring the duration of the pregnancy of Alejandro Lucadamo’s first child. This gestational process becomes embedded in the structure of the work itself: a continuous journey where beginning and end meet. The roll format transforms the drawing into a natural loop, a visual metaphor for the cycles of birth, transformation and rebirth.
From this original drawing emerges the videoart piece The End Never Ending, translating the hand-drawn line into motion. The animation preserves the artisanal quality of the drawing, expanding its pictorial gesture into a flowing visual and sensory experience.
Inspired by alchemical symbolism, mythology and universal spiritual traditions, the narrative opens and closes with the ouroboros, the ancient emblem of regeneration and eternity. Along this journey, symbolic images unfold: a sun proclaiming “We are the resurrection of the dead star,” a bottle containing a beating heart, and a golden egg reborn as an angel. Gods, dragons and mythical beings inhabit a constantly transforming space, evoking the cosmic dance between creation and destruction.
With its handcrafted aesthetic and symbolic narrative, The End Never Ending invites viewers to experience the cyclical nature of existence and the interconnectedness between the human, the cosmic and the spiritual.
The project has been developed by the by , a collaboration between Alejandro Lucadamo and filmmaker and producer Agustina Covián, focused on exploring new visual narratives through animation and immersive formats.
